“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you remain in My word, you are truly My disciples. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.’”
John 8:32
I’ve probably heard this scripture a thousand times. But this morning… it finally clicked.
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Not just hear it. Not just quote it. Know it.
Because the truth is, many of us are not living free. We are holding on to words spoken over us years ago. Or even worse, words we’ve spoken over ourselves.
Maybe you’ve heard things like:
- You’ll never be free from addiction
- You’ll never be good enough
- You’ll always struggle
- No one will ever love you
Those words don’t just hurt. They create bondage. They shape how we see ourselves, and they keep us from walking in the fullness of who God created us to be.
But Jesus didn’t say feelings would set you free. He didn’t say opinions would set you free. He said the truth would. And that truth is found in His Word.
When we remain in His Word, we begin to replace lies with truth. We begin to break agreement with things that were never meant to define us. We begin to walk in freedom — not just from sin, but from the emotional weight that holds us back.
That is real freedom.
Today, my prayer is this: That you would find peace. That you would receive forgiveness. That you would begin to truly know the truth. And as you do, that every chain holding you back would begin to break — so you can walk in the freedom God has already given you.
Amen.
